Personal:

I retired from the Army after 26 years of service in 2010.  I moved home to Arizona.  My wife and I are empty nesters.  In 2016 I had stents placed in my heart after discovering coronary artery disease.  Since early 2016 I have lost 30 lbs and got in much better shape.  August 2017 I retired again and we are going on a mission to Mexico in OCtober 2017.

10K solo effort plan was to set my PR for this decade.  went hard for 6.22 miles then cooled down.  10K PR was 48:59 and ran this in 48:31.  total time for 7.1 was 58:41.  splits 7:51, 7:54, 7:49, 7:47, 7:49, 7:48, 10:35, 1:09.  average heart rate was 135.  current VO2 max 53.

treadmill run.  watch was not accurate and neigther was the treadmill. total time 28:11  ...did uptempo for 0.08 miles each quarter mile during mile 2. guess on the splits 9:30, 9:00, 9:41.  it was humid and I sweated alot.

I was heading down to the treadmill and ran into President Jeff Kimball from the Pachuca mission and his wife.  we went running outside.  it seemed safe.  4 miles.  they don't warm up so I struggled... total time 35:57.  splits 8:47, 8:38, 9:02, 9:30.
